Below is a link to CrossFit Santa Cruz Central’s blog. They have been blogging Paleo friendly recipes since 1998! Check out the pages, try out the recipes, and try to go Paleo for 30 days. There are a lot of ideas throughout the years. Lots of great ideas like Paleo cookies and breads….If you REALLY need them. ;)

This diet is extremely difficult if you have poor eating habits. If you are one of those people start slow and make minor changes. You can get there! If you ever have questions ask any of the coaches. We have all been there, done that, with making the transition, so dont be afraid to ask!

Paleo Challenge

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

We encourage all members to try Paleo for 30 days.  This should motivate you to get more involved in your nutrition and really get you to take a look at what you’re putting into your body.  you are  putting all of this hard work into the gym and you should reward your body with the proper nutrition you need.  Eating properly will ensure proper recovery after workouts, you will have more energy, and bottom line you will feel better!  Try it…if you are having a hard time with it then just go on our BLOG and talk to one of our Full Strength coaches.  We are here to help!

The Paleo diet is also referred to as the hunter/gatherer diet simply because all foods on it can either be hunted or gathered. This means no dairy, grains , or processed foods such as pasta’s, bread or rice. The easiest way to look at this is to shop on the perimeter of the store. With the exclusion of  bread most everything on the outside is fresh meats, veggies, and fruit. When planning your meals remember proteins should account for at least 30% of your meal, carbs should be about 40% and fats should be about 30%.

During your month keep a food journal and write down everything you consume including snacks and drinks. Also write down how you feel each day, mood swings, fatigue, or great energy, no crash, felt great, etc… and have either Gayle, Jen or myself take a look at them so we can make suggestions on what your doing well and what you may want to change. Also this will help to determine if your eating enough fats and protein.

Remember nutrition is the foundation of everything we do. Here are a few links to get you started and as the month progresses we will continue to post new links and recipes. Good luck to everyone involved.
