A lot of people have no idea what to expect when coming into a CrossFit Gym. They think that our whole motive it to push you until you see “Pukie.” Sure he may be our mascot, but that is not our intention at all. As coaches we are here to help you with movements and show you that we are the School of Elite Fitness. Whether we need to scale a workout for a beginner or guide you to get full range of motion, we are a support system here to help you reach your goals. Sure it is easy to walk into our gym and point out a member or coach and say, “I want arms like that” or “I want to look like him”. We are here to help you get mentally prepared to accept the fact that nothing comes easy. If CrossFit were easy, we wouldn’t have the faces of CrossFit…Kristan Clever, Josh Everett, and Chris Spealer.
CrossFit is a life changing experience. It shows you that you are more than mediocre and average. Whether you are doing cleans with a PVC pipe in WODs (Workout of the Day) or going Rx’d (prescribed weight), you are pushing yourself to pass every expectation you ever had for yourself. When have you walked out of your typical Globo Gym and thought that you needed to leave with your head held high because you literally just completed 150 Wall Balls. Probably never because this is a movement you can’t do at a typical gym. We want to work on technique so that you can become consistent and be able to perform movements at a high intensity.
Now we want everyone to realize that results are earned. You are not going to just get results because you show up. You have to put the work in. This is probably what scares people the most…WORKING HARD! This doesn’t mean that you have to move the earth like Chuck Norris. It means that you, individually, need to be able to walk out of the gym, and know that you gave it 100%. You can’t sit there in WODs and compare yourself to the other members and feel bad because you are not going Rx’d on weights. Yes, we keep track of all of your results. We post results of workouts up on whiteboards and profiles. We do this to create context for training, so that we all have a framework within which our training can exist... goals, expectations of performance, belief of what is possible, etc. Comparisons are good - as long as they are NOT used to make you feel bad about what you are doing... remember, the competition, 99% of the time, is just with yourself!
You should now have a better understanding of what we are all about at CrossFit Full Strength. Your health should be made a priority. That doesn’t mean you need to waste 3 hours of your time at a gym. We are a community that will help you attain all of your goals and support you 100%.
